Another Sunday, another Coy Cruisin weekly catch-up!
It’s been another busy week in the workshop, with our main customer build getting closer to completion, more progress on the caravan and plenty of other bits happening along the way!
๐ The Transporter build is nearly there!
Our main job in the workshop this week has been a long-wheel-base Volkswagen Transporter, where we’ve been building custom furniture pods!
We’ve made a slide-out bed with storage drawers underneath, used black hex ply and replaced the flooring, and it’s all really starting to come together now!
We’re just waiting for the cushion covers to arrive before we can call this one finished — and they’re going to be bright pink velvet! ๐
This is something completely different to the colours we have previously used in our builds, so we’re really excited to see the finished result!
If you haven’t already, check out Friday’s Reel where Tom shows how he hand-cut the cupboard doors using the Ryobi router, a 3mm router bit and a few squares of wood to create the rounded edges. You guys seemed to really like this one over on socials!
Will save the photos of this for the final reveal๐
๐๏ธ The caravan update
Meanwhile, Emma’s caravan project continues… with Tom very much in the role of hired labour when the jobs get too big ๐
This week I re-insulated the bathroom ceiling using polystyrene foam insulation from B&Q, one sheet was £10 and we used the whole thing, then we started re-panelling the bathroom walls using the 3mm ply.
The panelling came to £114, bringing our running total so far to £174

And the best part?
We’ve spent £174 so far, and nothing looks remotely aesthetic yet ๐
We’re definitely still in the “spending money on things nobody can see” stage of the renovation.. gutted
Anyway, then came the rain…๐ง๏ธ
And while heavy rain isn’t usually something we’re pleased to see, (actually never) it came at the right time and helped us discover even more leaks in the bathroom ๐ฌ (of course!)
We found water coming in around the seals above the bathroom window, so for now we’ve tarped everything up to let it properly dry out

The next job will be to get outside and seal around the window properly, and then — very importantly — test it again before we start putting everything back together!
We still have the back wall to tackle along with a corner of flooring, and the ceiling still needs re-boarding, but we’re getting there!
Once all the boring structural stuff is finally done, I can get onto the bit I’ve actually been excited about!
I’m going for the sage green, cream, pink and floral look I’ve had in my head since we bought the caravan, with some pretty finishing touches to hopefully turn it into the cosy little space I’m imagining๐ญ

๐ “It’s not as bad as we thought…”
We’ve had a couple of visitors at the workshop this week — family and friends who came to have a look at the caravan…
And both of them said pretty much the same thing:
“It’s not as bad as we thought.” ๐
We’re choosing to take that as a compliment!
Considering we’ve uncovered damp, black walls, literal water! Aswel as more leaks and a cracked shower tray, we’re probably quite happy that their first reaction wasn’t to tell us to scrap it! ๐ฎ
๐ฟ We need your help!
We’ve discovered that the shower tray appears to have cracked in multiple areas, so we’re now looking for a replacement 700 x 700mm shower tray
If anyone knows where we can get one without spending a fortune, please let us know?! I keep searching marketplace!
We’re also starting to look for the perfect paint and wallpaper for the caravan...
If you’ve got any recommendations for good, durable paint or you’ve seen a wallpaper that you think would work with the sage green, cream, pink and floral look, send them our way!
We’re expecting quite a few trips to Magnum Motorhomes in Grimsby as the renovation continues, as well as our usual B&Q visits — so we’re probably going to become very familiar with both places all over again! ๐
โก And finally…
Today Tom helped a friend with an electrical upgrade in his van. They fitted a new leisure battery as part of the upgrade, giving the van a better electrical setup and more power for off-grid adventures!โก๏ธ
It’s always nice getting stuck into different types of van work, and it’s another job ticked off the list this week!
Don’t forget to check out our reels on social media for updates! We try to regularly share little bits of everything we’re getting up to — whether that’s customer builds, the caravan renovation, our own trips away or the general chaos that comes with running Coy Cruisin' ๐
The Transporter is nearly ready for its bright pink velvet transformation, the caravan is slowly becoming less terrifying and Emma’s vision is hopefully starting to take shape…
So all in all… another pretty productive week at Coy Cruisin! ๐
