It’s been another busy week at Coy Cruisin, and we’ve officially completed our 8th van conversion!🚐
This one is a little different from some of our previous builds. Designed for one person, the van features a slide-out slat bed which opens up into a huge sleeping area, with plenty of storage underneath. Tom has also built heavy-duty pull-out drawers accessible from the rear of the van, giving the owner loads of practical storage without taking up valuable living space.
The whole bed and drawer system was made from black hex ply. To complement it, we re-laid the floor in a grey stone-effect vinyl which the owner had picked out from Wilson’s carpets.
And then… the moment we’d been waiting for — the pink cushions arrived! 😂💗
They were definitely bright, but they look SO good in the van! The bold pink against the black hex ply and grey flooring has given the interior loads of personality without making it feel too much.
Tom also added some clever little pop-up shelves to the rear doors. These can be used for displaying decor, holding drinks or keeping other bits handy, and then simply fold away when they’re not needed or when the van is on the move.
There are also two 360-degree swivel tables, one towards the front and another further back. Both can be moved around into different positions, so they can be used in whatever configuration works best at the time — another little feature that makes the space much more versatile.
With build number 8 now finished, we handed it over on Friday back to the owner. We then spent the last couple of days having a bit of a clear-out and reorganise in the workshop before we head off on holiday! It’s always nice to get everything tidied up and ready for a fresh start when we get back.
We’ve also had lots of enquiries coming through the website recently, which has been brilliant to see. It’s great knowing that people are finding us through the website and getting in touch about their own van projects!
There’s been no progress on the caravan this week, but we’re actually looking forward to getting stuck back into it when we return. We’ve got plenty more ideas for it, and after finishing another van, it’ll be nice to switch gears and get back to Emma’s little renovation project. As well as starting the next van conversion project!
For now though, it’s time to shut the workshop doors, leave the tools behind and go on holiday! ✈️
We’ll be back soon with more van builds, more caravan chaos and plenty more Coy Cruisin adventures! 💗🚐
